VOLUNTEER MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEES

As a Volunteer Member, you choose which committee(s) most interest you. To find out more about the committees listed below and when they meet, click the bolded header for the committee. It is our Volunteers Members responsibility to sign up for a committee. We will not just assign you to a group. We prefer that you choose the one that suites you the most.

Administration/Office:
Assist in office on a year-round basis &/or during the Event. Assist in data entry, mailings, filing & general office duties.

Car Judging & Awards:
Volunteer Members in this new committee work to coordinate all judged show-n-shines, awards presentations & trophies.

Cars:
If you want to be near the cars, this committee is the place for you. Volunteers help manage the show-n-shines, car cruises and the Sunday parade. Activities include traffic direction, monitoring of parking available, crowd control, & much more.

Check-In:
If you can’t work out in the sun, or prefer a job sitting down, check out the Check-In Committee . At Check-In, Volunteers greet the car participants at the Grand Sierra Resort, get them checked in and hand out the goody bags and credentials.

Event Information:
This new committee oversees and staffs the three Hot August Nights information booths, the car participant Hotel Reservation booth, and the Oldies Emporium Sales booth.

Finance:
This group is sresponsible for handling all monies at Hot August Nights Events held at the Reno-Sparks Livestock Events Center (HAN Swap Meet) and the Reno-Sparks Convention Center (Silver Auction).

Food & Beverage:
This committee helps to make sure our volunteers have plenty of water, ice and lunches for the Event.  To serve in this committee you must be able to lift 20 lb bags of ice.

Foundation:
Volunteers in this committee help year around with HAN Foundation activities including the Coat Drive, Christmas for needy teens, HAN Raffle Car, and various functions for our adopted school (O'Brien Middle School).

Member Services:
If you like planning parties, this is the group for you. Member Services plan and staff HAN Member parties throughout the year, pack the Volunteer Member goodie bags and staff and run the Volunteer Member shuttle during the Event.

Operations:
This committee handles radio communication, site planning, preparation, and set-up prior to the Event. During the Event the committee oversees and manages the venue at the Grand Sierra Resort.

Special Events:
A new committee this year, the Special Events Committee is in charge of the Poker Run and Poker Walk booths during the Event and all Hot August Nights parade entries and floats throughout the year.
