History: Home to the Washoe Indians, John Fremont was the first person of European descent to discover the Lake during an expedition in 1844.

Maximum Depth: 1,645' making Lake Tahoe the third deepest lake in the United States and the tenth deepest in the world. If Tahoe was completely drained, it would cover a flat area the size of California to a depth of 14 inches and would take over 700 years to refill.

Clarity: One of the clearest lakes in the United States, Lake Tahoe has a water clarity of close to 75' deep.

Weather: The sunshines over 272 days a year at Lake Tahoe. July and August are typically the warmest months with an average maximum temperature of 79 degrees.
