Hot August Nights Wins
Sparks Chamber Of Commerce
2007 Non-Profit Of the Year
During the Sparks Chamber Of Commerce 30th Annual Awards dinner, Hot August Nights and The Hot August Nights Foundation were awarded with the respected title of 2007 Non-Profit of the year.
The award trophy came with prized recognition certificates from United States Senator’s Harry Reid and John Ensign, Congressman Dean Heller and State of Nevada Governor Jim Gibbons. This award is of particular importance to Hot August Nights, as it is the first time in the Events 22 year history that the organization has been awarded with this honor.
Competition was stiff, with esteemed nominee finalists that included The Boys and Girls Club of The Truckee Meadows, The Northern Nevada Food Bank, The Muscular Dystrophy Association, The Girl Scouts of Sierra Nevada, The Reno Air Races and The Sparks Rotary Club.
This honor is much in part to do with the accomplishments and contributions made to the community by both Hot August Nights and The Hot August Nights Foundation. With the mission of supporting the community needs while also working with the community, business and education leaders to impact the lives of in need and at risk children, Hot August Nights has been able to make a big difference for many in need this last year.
The Hot August Nights Foundation supports food drives for The Salvation Army as well as The Northern Nevada Food Bank. Collection records were broken when Hot August Nights joined The Salvation Army for the Annual Coat Drive and The Holiday Bell Ringing.
In partnership with The Boys and Girls Club of the Truckee Meadows, the Foundation also provides promising futures for many high school seniors by awarding full scholarships to deserving students. In addition to other activities, the Hot August Nights Foundation also supports its adopted school, O’Brien Middle School, by providing incentive based rewards and activities, which have lead to improved grades, citizenship and attendance.
